TELEMUNDO CELEBRATES THE BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS “BILLBOARD DUETS” WITH THREE TV SPECIALS SURROUNDING THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SHOW
TELEMUNDO announced three TV specials to offer viewers complete coverage of the prestigious Billboard Latin Music Awards “Billboard Duets”. “Detras de la Fama” will broadcast on Saturday, April 23 at 9pm/8c and will feature exclusive and in-depth interviews with top Latin music artists including Nicky Jam, Jesse & Joy, Daddy Yankee and Julion Alvarez. “La Alfombra de Premios Billboard” airs Thursday, April 28 live at 7PM/6c and will showcase the fashionable and glamorous arrival of artists on the red carpet. Following the awards ceremony, the night will culminate at 11:35pm/10:35c with “Premios Billboard: Acceso VIP,” a live post-awards show that will give audiences an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the Billboard Latin Music Awards. The longest-running and most prestigious awards show in the Latin music world will be produced by and broadcast live on TELEMUNDO on Thursday, April 28 at 8pm/7c from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Florida.
Rashel Diaz, co-host of TELEMUNDO’s morning show “Un Nuevo Dia,” returns this year to host “Detras de la Fama,” a prelude to the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards set to broadcast Wednesday, April 23 at 9pm/8c on TELEMUNDO. For this special one-hour TV show, production teams traveled to Mexico and Puerto Rico to interview the featured artists and offer in-depth interviews with some of the biggest names in Latin music, revealing a never-before-seen side of Nicky Jam, Jesse & Joy, Daddy Yankee and Julion Alvarez.
Nicky Jam, an 11-time finalist this year, is one of the most inspirational and successful second acts in Latin music. After a 10-year hiatus and moving to Colombia, he returned to the limelight and chart topping success; he is currently headlining his first and highly successful solo U.S. tour. The urban singer recently announced his debut in Hollywood, joining the cast of The Return of Xander Cage, starring Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, and former Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez. Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy, are currently in the midst of their “Un besito más” tour and are up for two awards this year. A finalist this year, Daddy Yankee will be back as a Coach on the new season of TELEMUNDO’s “La Voz Kids” (The Voice Kids), scheduled to air in the spring. He holds more top 10s on theBillboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart than any other artist. Mexico’s “King of the Box Office”, Julion Alvarez is the lead singer of Julion Alvarez y su Norteño Banda, one of the hottest Regional Mexican acts, and a six-time finalist.
The red carpet special “La Alfombra de Premios Billboard” precedes the BillboardLatin Music Awards airing LIVE at 7PM/6c. The one-hour show will showcase the glamour and excitement of music and TV stars arriving on the red carpet. Hosted this year by TELEMUNDO personalities Rashel Diaz and Suelta La Sopa’s Jorge Bernal; co-hosted by Al Rojo Vivo Entertainment Reporter Jessica Carrillo and Fashion expert Quique Usales.
Following the awards show, the night culminates at 11:35pm/10:35c with “PremiosBillboard: Acceso VIP,” a special that will give audiences an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the awards ceremony. The program will be hosted by Jessica Carrillo, co-hosted by Titulares y Mas’ Karim Mendiburu, with fashion expertQuique Usales and social reporter Erika Csiszer (“Un Nuevo Dia” & “Titulares y Mas”).
