Jive Live Entertainment LLC is pleased to announce the launch of the first-ever “Running to the Rescue,” powered by New Year’s Race, a Virtual Run and LIVE DJ After Party, taking place all around Los Angeles, virtually, and beyond from Monday, April 20th through Saturday, April 25th.
The mission of this event is to encourage a healthy lifestyle, empower Angelinos to make a difference while having fun, and raise money for the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA’s COVID-19 Food Security Relief Initiative, as 100% of donations will go directly to the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA.
Participants can sign up via Eventbrite. A 10-$25 donation allows participants to complete a “Fun Run” of any distance on their own time, in their own city, between Monday, April 20th and Saturday, April 25th. Registering also allows participants to be eligible for FREE giveaways that will be announced during the LIVE After Party with DJ Angie Vee on Saturday, April 25th from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Jive Live’s Instagram page (@JiveLiveLA). There will be additional Instagram Contests for participants to engage in, including:
Make a T-Shirt into a Mask Contest
1. Participants can have fun making old race or other event t-shirts into a mask to use on their run

With runs and other live events being cancelled all across Los Angeles, and all over the world, Jive Live Entertainment wanted to give Angelinos something fun to participate in, while still adhering to social distancing and CDC guidelines, and raising money for COVID-19 relief efforts in the communities. This event is purely to unite Los Angeles during this difficult time, and have fun doing it.
Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA
Boyle Heights / East & South Los Angeles – Covid-19 Food Security Relief Initiative
OBJECTIVE:
To provide food security and wellness checks to the most vulnerable populations in the Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles communities – seniors, the homeless and the undocumented and their families –during the Novel COVID-19 pandemic. The intent is to mitigate the number of potential cases and anticipated impact to the local health systems by ensuring the most vulnerable can abide by the stay-at-home order and not have to seek out food and supplies.
IMPACT AREAS & FOCUS:
The relief efforts are segmented into three key areas to serve (3) vulnerable populations:
• HOME FOOD DELIVERIES (FOR SENIORS & FAMILIES IN NEED)
• GRAB ‘N GO MEALS (FOR FAMILIES IN NEED & THE HOMELESS)
• SUPPORT FOR THE HOMELESS (INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES)
EXPANSION:
The list of growing partners has been the key in allowing the pilot to expand from an initial 250 distribution bags to over 3,000+ bags delivered per week, 20,000 pre-packaged meals served per week, and mobile showers and warm meals for the homeless to help provide relief to the Boyle Heights and surrounding communities.
SUSTAINABILITY & RAMP UP:
Since the initial pilot was initiated, as of April 9, 2020, over 6,000 deliveries have been made. The immediate goal now is to ramp-up the process to serve thousands more seniors, families and homeless people in need. The intent is to secure additional funding, resources and volunteers to continue weekly deliveries to those most impacted throughout the pandemic.
