MundoFox celebrates Cinco de Mayo @FiestaBroadway2015
Tradition, music, and celebration of our cultura took place this past weekend at the heart of Los Angeles courtesy of Mundo Fox Channel 22. Los Angeles began the Cinco de Mayo festivities at the largest celebration in commemoration of this historical date that is vastly celebrated in the US.
The 26th edition of Fiesta Broadway brought together almost half a million Angelenos from different nationalities right in front of one of LA’s most iconic places, the City Hall.
Fiesta Broadway is considered the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the world. This fast growing event brought the community together by offering family friendly entertainment, amazing food, and musical performances by various top recording artists; this year’s headliner was singer, actress, and hostess, Lucero, also known as “La Novia de America” (The Bride of America). The always traditional Mariachi was waiting for her on the stage and Lucero walked in with the charisma that characterizes her, the eager audience had been waiting for her since early in the morning, she was received and greeted by her fans that came from different cities of the US, she sang songs like “Volver” a song that was really appropriate for the occasion and touched the audience’s heart.
Perfect for a #throwback Sunday was the performance of regional Mexican superstars Banda Machos, who performed the songs that made them famous in the early 1990s. Angela and Leonardo Aguilar, daughter and son of mariachi sensation, Pepe Aguilar, also shined in this celebration, classical crossover soprano Barbara Padilla fascinated the audience with her beautiful voice. Music has no frontiers and to prove it Fiesta Broadway had Dwayne Verheyden, a Holland native that sings Mexican regional/norteno music, this fiesta also offered performances by young artist Evaluna Montaner, daughter to Argentine-born Venezuelan, singer and songwriter Ricardo Montaner, Ballet Folklorico HP of Aaron Cruz that presented a beautiful display of traditional Mexican folklore, the cast of the soon to debut play Burlesque el Musical prepared a special performance for Fiesta Broadway, Rafael Mercadante, Cheyo Carrillo and many others more helped to make this year’s fiesta a success.
Fiesta Broadway did it again for the 26th time; it brought the community together with a grand display of music, entertainment, food, and attractions for the entire family. Don’t miss Canal 22 Mundo Fox’s one hour special broadcast this Sunday May 3, 2015 at 8:00 p.m.
