A Journey into the Future: Further Future

A Journey into the Future: Further Future

On April 29 I headed on a 5 hour drive from Los Angeles to an adventure in the Moapa River Reservation, a little bit beyond Las Vegas, towards Further Future. Expecting it to be just another festival like the others that blossom every year, I was pleasantly surprised to discover more than just that. The fusion of music, technology, speakers, wellness, art, gastronomy, or as the festival founders call it an “intentional community,” captivated my senses.

From the welcome gifts that included water bottles, square glasses and a goodie bag of essentials to the rough weather, as mother nature decided to welcome us with some rainfall, I found myself amidst a mystical desert environment that provided for inspirational talks, and self-discovery workshops, like no other I have experienced at other festivals.  Further Future is a community with a vision of a brighter future, one where unity, compassion and love collide to elevate our minds and connect in a collective human experience.

In my quest for self-discovery and mental stimulation I attended various thought-provoking panels prominent speakers such as Eric Schmidt (Google/Alphabet Inc.) and Bob Pittman (iHeartMedia CEO), among others, providing feedback on the forthcoming future within their fields and society.  My days quickly turned into night as I enjoyed learning new healthy recipes by innovative chefs, listened to amazing music by great musicians, attended guided meditated, learned about the direction in technology and got to experience VR. The Creators Lounge offered the opportunity to live a VR demo and talk Sophie, a realistic robot.

One of the things I liked most about Further Future is that unlike any other festival, the focus is on providing an exceptional human experience, and connecting you to a world of compassion and inspiration, a preview of a brighter Future. I was able to enjoy the Spa, sunset yoga, and delicious food. Oh yes, the food! As a foodie I greatly enjoyed the diverse menu at The Vendor Village with SLO-Boy, Lobster Pho and Poutine Your Mouth. The intimate dinners with renowned chefs from Noby, The Rose and The Larchmont offered a more romantic setting.

As with any festival the music must shine and Further Future presented an amazing line-up among its five stages. Peculiarly named in a futuristic form, Mothership, Void Village, Robot Heart, Booba Cosmica and Envelop Satellite, each delivering a diverse soundscape by internationally-acclaimed artists such as Nicolas Jaar, Kid Koala, Dixon, Lee Burridge, The Pharcyde, Still Corners,  Leftfield,  HVOB and my favorite Caribou, who rocked the stage and had everyone dancing.

As I headed back to Los Angeles in my cozy RV from Jucy RV Rentals, I reminisced that Further Future was a flash of light that came and went in the blink of an eye, but that it was enough to open my mind, move my heart, create beautiful memories, make a few new friends, an invitation to unite with the collective force and desire to transform our planet and build a better Future. This is just the beginning…See you at FF003!
