Starring Álvaro Morte and Verónika Moral
The video features Verónika Moral (“Vis a Vis”, “Mar de plástico”, “Vitoria, 3 de marzo”) and Álvaro Morte (“La Casa de papel”, “ El Embarcadero”, “Durante la tormenta”) in the starring roles. In addition, all six Vetusta Morla members also appear as characters in the audiovisual piece.
The video was directed by filmmaker Paula Ortiz, also at the helm of feature films De tu ventana a la mía and La novia, both receiving national and international awards, including two Goya Awards in Spain in 2016.
As the director herself describes, the video for “23 de junio” poses the reunion of a couple in a no-time and a no-place, who cyclically meet again and decide to grant themselves a moment together. Therefore, each of them, carrying their luggage, crosses a border that takes them to another space, warmer and full of light where they enjoy dancing together. The couple experience their reunion with joy and they remember who they are. Right after that moment of fullness, they will cross the threshold leading them back to their own lives again.
The band says about the song “23 de junio”: This is a retro-futuristic waltz equally loaded with traditional music and sound manipulation. It’s a timeless dance. It smells like popular music turned into a ‘right of passage’, as if it were an ancestral celebration encouraging us to pass lightly and bravely, without the burden of the luggage we all carry.”
“23 de junio” is the eighth music video of Mismo Sitio, Distinto Lugar” following “Te lo Digo a Ti” (directed by Nacho Vigalondo), “Deséame Suerte” (directed by Fernando Franco), “El Discurso del Rey” (directed by Colectivo Audiovisual Cuadra Picha), “Consejo de Sabios” directed by Rodrigo Guardiola), and the live videos “La Vieja Escuela”, “Punto Sin Retorno. Directo Hansa Studios” (Berlin) and “Consejo de Sabios. Directo Hansa Studios” by Enrique Torralbo.
