The Runway to Rebuild Fashion Show presents formal-wear made from used, recycled, up-cycled, and reclaimed materials. The annual event is a fundraiser to benefit the non-profit community development organization,LONG WAY HOME. Runway to Rebuild and Long Way Home share the common purpose of promoting sustainability in both design and construction.
This year’s event will benefit our local community by sponsoring 10 young adults to spend a week in Guatemala volunteering at Long Way Home’s school. Currently serving 118 students in grades K-8, this school is made out of used tires, plastic bottles, and other re purposed materials. The local teenagers participating in this unique experience will come from families that would otherwise be unable to afford this trip. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to enrich their lives through increased perspective regarding global issues and creating or increasing value for service work. Any funds raised beyond the cost of airfare and trip/program fees will further support the work of Long Way Home and its mission to use sustainable design and materials to construct self-sufficient schools that promote education, employment and environmental stewardship.
